Singapore-based shipowner Hong Lam Marine has begun implementation of a cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system from JiBe, as part of a strategy to digitalise company-wide work processes.
The shipping company has been evaluating various approaches and systems over the past two years to choose a platform to support its transition towards a single fully integrated system.
“The decision to shift into JiBe’s web-based cloud ERP comes as part of a larger strategic effort of preparing our company for growth and changing methodologies in ship management,” said Goon Ghen Cheit, Director at Hong Lam.
“The ERP selection process was lengthy and rather complex. While functionality can be quite quickly added if the provider has a large team, we wanted to make sure the character and approach of the provider is a good fit with our long-term goals since this is a long-term undertaking.”
“It was not easy to find a software provider that has both a strong technology background as well as shipping background, and at the same time is not owned by a competitor. The fleet management ERP is by definition a long-term commitment to a specific provider hence we picked a company that does ERP as a core business and has a strong track record.”
The JiBe ERP system is currently in use by approximately 1500 vessels, mainly in Japan, Southeast Asia, Greece, and the US.This is placeholder text.
